An online funeral announcement and memorial

An online funeral announcement takes little time to make and reaches everyone at once. Family and friends find the details of the service there, and can leave a message of condolence.

Creating the announcement

  1. When creating a new invitation, choose Funeral and a design that suits the person who has died.
  2. Fill in the Name of the deceased and the Date of passing.
  3. Under Funeral date, add the time as well. Not known yet? Leave it empty and add it later with Change details (Updating your event settings).
  4. Read through the example text calmly and replace anything that doesn’t fit.

Condolences

For a funeral, the Guestbook button is called Condolence. People can write a personal message there, with a photo if they wish. How it works and who can read the messages is explained in An online condolence book with a funeral notice and Who can see the guestbook?.

What to share

Include only what’s needed: where and when the service takes place, and perhaps an address for cards. A link can be forwarded, including to people you don’t know yourself. If you’d like to know who’s coming, for the reception afterwards for example, leave RSVP switched on (Turn on RSVP and set it up).
